5 Signs You’re A Kid From The ’90s

It’s undeniable that trends from the ‘90s are making a big comeback today. From music to fashion, to lifestyle and entertainment, ‘90s culture has given us a good reason to look back. If you’re a kid from the ‘90s, then you grew up having these experiences.
You’re a fan of N’SYNC, Backstreet boys, Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera
Not long before the rise of K-Pop and Bieber, there were the legendary American boy bands and pop stars. Theirs was the dynamic-slash-experimental music videos and the start of uncanny colorful hairstyles. The competition of the ‘90s music scene was even more entertaining to watch especially when it’s between Christina and Britney. And because of their iconic styles and choreographies, you’ve developed a last-song-syndrome that doesn’t go away for weeks! Oops, you heard it again.
Video games turned you into a geek
When you first got your hands on the Nintendo family computer and played Mario Bros, time suddenly turned irrelevant. Because as a kid, seeing geek stuff like gaming consoles was like stepping into Lego land. Aside from Mario Bros, you also played Duck Hunt, Pac-Man and Tetris – the games that inspired a lot of gaming apps today. You’re thankful of your parents for blessing you with these gadgets that you didn’t know will benefit your future.
Flannels, crop tops and chucks are your go-to outfit
The ‘90s wouldn’t be the same without its signature fashion statement. If you would give a definition to forever, it’ll be plaid shirts because it’s never out of style. Peeps who grow up in the ‘90s are simple and open minded. A lot of people who make up the population are millennials who are more confident and diverse than the previous generations. You’re a part of this era of the internet and you’re sense of style is casual comfortable but stylish and classic.
You once had a collection of teks and pogs
Street games are the ‘90s kids’ happiness. There’s nothing more enjoyable than playing teks and pogs with your peers after school and every weekend. While the internet was being developed, you treasured your childhood by collecting these things. It was a big deal to have the most collection out of all your friends because it means that you’re the alpha – the great master – of the game. Looking back, you are proud to have at least played wonderful games when most kids these days would probably prefer to play with their computers than go outside to play with friends.
The smaller the phone, the more impressive you are!
The trend with phones today is that the bigger it is the better! But back then, the trend was the opposite. Before the iPhone and the Galaxy Note, Nokia was the king. Who can ever forget the famous 3310, which was said to be as indestructible as a rock? Nokia’s style is considered vintage today but back then it was the hippest phone in the country. It was also important to look out for new models because if you don’t get your hands on the latest one then you’ll be left at the end of the wagon. Nokia did a great job with their phones until Steve Jobs invented the iPhone and then Google with Android followed a few years later.
The ‘90s kids have grown up to be the 21st century’s troll masters trendsetters, and it’s great that their influence has made insightful changes especially in social media. In this world where change is the only remaining thing that’s constant, it’s a relief that the millennials have stayed true to themselves. The ‘90s have taught us that whatever is in store for us in the future, it relies on how we develop ourselves in the present.
